Introduction

Complications are divided into:

  • Intraoperative

    • Fracture of the tibial condyle
    • Fracture of the intercondylar eminence
    • Periprosthetic fractures
    • Rupture of the medial collateral ligament
    • Femoral component malposition
    • Retained cement fragments
  • Postoperative

    • Soft tissue impingement due to malalignment
    • Polyethylene bearing dislocation
    • Suprapatellar bursitis
    • Periprosthetic fracture
    • Component overhang
    • Unexplained pain
    • Aseptic loosening of components
    • Joint stiffness
    • Failure or loosening of the prosthesis
    • Dislocation
    • Wound and deep infection
